Announcement Regarding GMU Anti-Theft Campaign:

Did You Know:

• Approximately $1,000,000 worth of unattended property has been stolen here at GMU since 2010
• 86 laptops/accessories stolen in 2016 so far (loss of about $70,000)
• 56 cell phones/accessories stolen in 2016 so far (loss of about $18,000)
• 52 wallets/purses/bags/backpacks stolen in 2016 so far (loss of about $3,000)

As we wind down the 2016 Fall Semester, Mason Police will be increasing patrolling at certain locations to deter theft crimes and other crimes by being highly visible in the areas where our students gather in preparation for finals.

If you see a yellow “Breach of Security” notice on your unattended property, this is just a friendly reminder from Mason Police to properly secure your valuables to prevent theft.
